Annual tenants conference starts conversation
The annual tenants conference, held last Saturday, was the first opportunity for residents to discuss how the new engagement structure would work.
85 residents attended workshops to discuss the proposals for emphasis on estate level activities with area boards concentrating on performance reviews and a combined Tenants and Leaseholder Council Executive dealing with strategic issues. There was also discussion on the Lambeth 500 scheme which generally was favourably received. However, overall, residents wanted more time for discussion. The key proposals are contained in the ‘Improving Housing Management Services’ which is attached.
Lambeth TRA network
Last month we highlighted the Lambeth TRA Network was now on line (www.lambeth.network). The need for such a network was expanded upon at the tenants conference in a workshop called ‘TRAs – doing it for ourselves’. Jonathan Harbourne of Edmundsbury TRA produced a newsletter about why it was important to have a TRA.
The Network’s next meeting is 1 December at Jubilee Hall, Tulse Hill Estate to discuss youths.
