Recognition for one of our own!
Hazel Touray has been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List after more than 30 years of serving the community on Tulse Hill Estate. This includes:
• Being treasurer for the TRA
• Organising playschemes for the Easter and Summer school holidays
• Organising annual celebrations of Black History Month.
• Providing food for young people on the Build-it programme when doing their work experience on the Estate. A social club for the over-50s, with a dance teacher and a chance for people to stay fit and be sociable
“Where we are now on Tulse Hill estate is much more positive than before, ” she says. “ I’m not young, but I haven’t run out of ideas yet”.
Well deserved Hazel!
AGMs and Annual Accounts
Just a reminder that when planning your next AGM you need to produce a summary of your expenditure and income for your meeting.
This shouldn’t be a problem if you are regularly reporting to Committees but it is a requirement that a set of accounts is available at the AGM for all residents to receive.
If you need help producing these accounts and getting them externally checked your Resident Participation Officer (RPO) will arrange for this to be done.
The new TRA Constitution requires all accounts to be independently checked. We will pay for this to be done.
DIY Accredited course
We are hoping to run another DIY course with our contractor MITIE soon if we get enough residents interested.
The difference from the pilot we ran last year is this will be an accredited course run over four sessions.
If interested please contact Ivor Picardo on email@example.com or ring 020 7926 3604.
